Those two chords really don’t complement each other, or at least far less so than what we’re used to, but that’s what made bouncing between then so fun to do.

There’s probably a few different ways to music theorize the shifting rhythm, I think of it as the guitars playing in 3/4 over a 4/4 drum pattern. Music influencers love talking about polyrhythm, but this would actually be polymetre.

Between the polymetres and contrasting chords, the song gives an overall feel of indecision, or like self-doubt creeping in, making that next step just a little harder to take.
